Not All Regulation is Liberation.
We live in an age obsessed with nervous system tools.
Regulate. Ground. Breathe. Tap.
Repeat.
And while some of it helps — genuinely helps —
too much of it has become a ritual of avoidance.
Not all regulation is liberation.
Some tools hush your system
the way a lullaby quiets a crying child —
sweet, soothing,
but avoiding the very reason they weep.
Some of these tools act like Panadol:
they dull the ache,
mask the signal,
and demand to be taken again tomorrow.
If it doesn’t let the pain speak,
if it doesn’t invite the body to empty,
it’s not healing.
It’s sedation, dressed in spiritual language.
We’ve confused calm with completion.
So question the tools that promise serenity but avoid surrender.
Be suspicious of the ones that make you feel safe
by keeping you far from your truth.
Because one will help you cope,
while others will set you free.
